1) |
All
Officers, the Club Committee, Members and visitors to the Club
fields and those taking part in Club activities have responsibility
for the health and safety of themselves and that of others. Everyone
concerned must conduct themselves in a manner that does not put
themselves or anyone else at risk. Potential and actual health and
safety hazards, risks, accidents and incidents should be reported
without delay to a Club Officer or Steward.
|
|
2) |
Please obey
Club Officers and Stewards — they are there to help ensure your
health and safety.
|
|
3) |
All
vehicles must proceed no faster than walking pace.
|
|
4) |
You must
not leave tethered horses unsupervised—you must not tether a horse
to a fence, gate or wall. You must not lunge a horse in the parking
area.
|
|
5) |
Horses must
be ridden or led at walk outside the rings and designated practice
areas and must not be allowed to enter the designated spectator
areas.
|
|
6) |
With the
exception of the First Ridden class, the only people, other than a
Club. Official, now allowed in the designated horse waiting areas
are the riders/handlers of competing horses: grooms/attendants are
no longer allowed in this area. In the First Ridden class only, one
attendant/assistant per competitor will be allowed to remain in the
horse waiting area for the duration of the class. Judges/Judges’
Stewards will not start a class, or will halt a class, if there are
spectators in the designated horse area.
|
|
7) |
From 2006,
horses and their riders/handlers will not be allowed in the horse
waiting area until ten minutes before the expected start of their
class. A loudspeaker announcement will be made ten minutes before
the start of each class. Once a class has ended, Competitors must
leave the ring and the horse waiting area immediately, unless their
next class is due to start within ten minutes. This new requirement
is to prevent dangerous congestion in the horse waiting area..
|
|
8) |
Riders and
handlers must ensure that gateways and paths are not
obstructed. This is particularly important in the area around the
entrance to the horse waiting area and gate to top field. Only five
riders are allowed into the jumping warm-up area at any time.
|
|
9) |
Junior
members must wear body protectors in all classes with jumps and it
is strongly recommended that all visiting junior riders do this
also. Juniors must wear hard hats to current BHS approved safety
specifications with chin straps which must be fastened in ridden and
inhand classes. Although it is compulsory for all riders to wear a
hard hat while mounted it is strongly advised that all competitors
also wear their hats while competing inhand. Appropriate footwear
must be worn.
|
|
10) |
The Club
fields are bounded by dry-stone walls and falling stones can cause
serious injury. Please do not lean against walls and never climb
walls.
|
|
11) |
Some of the
fields, and all surrounding fields, are used for grazing: do not
drop litter or muck-out on the fields. Barbecues are not allowed for
fire safety reasons.
|
|
12) |
Dogs must
be leashed, be kept supervised and not cause a nuisance.
|
|
13) |
Children
are much less aware of danger than are adults. Children must be
supervised at all times. Please make any children in your care aware
of the key points of these health and safety rules.
|
|
14) |
No
stallions or colts are allowed on the show field.
